A court here on Monday placed four accused in a case over the killing of Cumilla ward councillor Syed Mohammad Sohel and his aide on a 5-day remand each.
Meanwhile the case was handed over to the Detective Branch (DB) of police from the Kotwali police station for further investigation on Sunday.

Cumilla senior judicial magistrate court judge Chandan Kanti Nath passed the order after the investigation officer of the case sought a 7-day remand to interrogate the accused.
Those remanded are Md Ashikur Rahman Rocky, Md Alam Mia, Jishan Mia and Masum, said M Tanvir Ahmed, additional superintendent of police.
Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) members and police have so far arrested five accused and two more suspects in the double murder case.
Meanwhile, prime accused Shah Alam, Sabbir Hossain, Sajon Mia were killed in alleged gunfights with police.

On November 22, Sohel, Cumilla City Corporation (CCC) councillor of Ward-17, and one of his aides were killed, while four others sustained injuries when gunmen opened fire in his office in Pathuariapara.
Based on his younger brother Syed Rumon's complaint, as many as 21 people, some 10 of them unidentified, were booked by the Kotwali police for the double murder.
