An extremist group is trying to create religious divisions over a settled issue of the country's history.
Displaying and preserving Bangabandhu's portrait is a constitutional issue. So, defacing Bangabandhu's sculpture is an insult to the constitution.
Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader said this on Sunday while addressing an extended meeting of Narsingdi district Awami League through video conference.
"Bangabandhu means Bangladesh, its independence, and constitution. Do not try our patience. If you cross your limit once again, Awami League leaders and workers will not sit idle," Quader warned the "communal groups."
He also condemned the partial vandalism of the half-century-old sculpture of "Madhu Da" on the "Madhur Canteen" of Dhaka University.
