He offered the apology before the six-member bench led by Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain.
Mamun Mahbub’s wife also apologised virtually on behalf of her husband while Bar Association President advocate AM Amin Uddin and Secretary advocate Ruhul Kuddus Kajal also offered apology on behalf of the association.
They said the Bar Association would take action if any lawyer commits such offence in future.
Besides, advocates AM Amir-ul Islam, Rokon Uddin Mahmud, AJ Mohammad Ali Jainul Abedin, Mahbub Uddin Khoka also requested the court to pardon Mamun Mahbub as he has offered unconditional apology.
The Court fixed August 23 to deliver its order over the matter.
On August 12, Supreme Court summoned Mamun Mahbub to appear before it and issued a rule seeking explanation as to why legal action should not be taken against him on charge of contempt of court over his comment.
Earlier, Attorney General Mahbubey Alam raised the issue before the bench.

Later, Mamun Mahbub said that he had used inappropriate words about the Chief Justice in a Facebook status and that he deleted the status.
“I posted another status offering apology. I will appear before the court on August 20 and will offer unconditional apology for my mistake," he said.
