The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has issued an emergency advisory urging people to remain cautious and take protective measures amid the scorching heat across the country.
In the advisory, signed by Dr Abu Hossain Moinul Ahsan, Director of Hospitals and Clinics at DGHS, it advised people to avoid going outdoors unless absolutely necessary.
If someone must go out, they are urged to shield themselves from the sun using an umbrella or a piece of cloth.
It also recommended drinking plenty of safe water, wearing light and loose-fitting clothes, taking showers more than once a day if possible and avoiding stale or exposed food.
Special caution has been advised for people with health conditions, particularly heart disease and high blood pressure.
The DGHS further urged people to monitor urine colour, noting that dark yellow urine indicates dehydration and the need to increase fluid intake.
Those feeling unwell due to the heat are advised to seek medical attention without delay.
For any health-related advice, people can call the DGHS-run hotline ‘Shastho Batayon’ at 16263.
