Dhaka Ahsania Mission (DAM) on Friday has been honoured with two awards in recognition of its contributions to drug prevention, treatment and awareness activities in Bangladesh.
The awards were presented by Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed at a programme held at Osmani Memorial Auditorium in Dhaka, marking the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking 2026.
Iqbal Masud, Director of the Health Sector of Dhaka Ahsania Mission and General Secretary of the Bangladesh Chapter of the International Society of Substance Use Professionals (ISSUP), and Mizanur Rahman, Manager of the Ahsania Mission Drug Addiction Treatment and Rehabilitation Centre in Jashore, received the awards on behalf of the organisation.
According to a press release, the Department of Narcotics Control selected Dhaka Ahsania Mission for its significant contribution to evidence-based drug prevention initiatives through its Jashore rehabilitation centre and for its active participation in the national anti-drug rally organised on the occasion.
More than 300 young people took part in the rally carrying banners and festoons under the initiative of the Health Sector of Dhaka Ahsania Mission and the ISSUP Bangladesh Chapter.
Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs Monjur Morshed Chowdhury attended the programme as special guest, while Director General of the Department of Narcotics Control Md Hasan Maruf presided over the event.
Dhaka Ahsania Mission has been implementing drug prevention, treatment and rehabilitation programmes in the country since 1990.
The organisation currently operates three drug treatment and rehabilitation centres for men in Gazipur, Munshiganj and Jashore, as well as a dedicated treatment and rehabilitation centre for women in Dhaka.
