Labour, trade and investment; migration issues, birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, economic diplomacy with special focus on future works amid changing situation will be discussed in the conference to be held during Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen on Sunday said Bangladesh Ambassadors to Bahrain, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates (UAE) will attend the 'Envoys Conference'.
He said the Ambassadors will share their ideas, work plan on attracting investment to Bangladesh, ways to boost trade with those countries, addressing migration issue, welfare of Bangladeshi workers there and golden jubilee celebrations of Bangladesh's independence on March 26, 2021.
"It's better to have the envoys conference now," said the Foreign Minister adding the government wants to boost trade investment with the Middle Eastern countries.
He said the government will do whatever is necessary to address the problems.
Dr Momen said remittance inflow to Bangladesh has gone up with an increase of 16-17 percent amid introduction of 2 percent incentives.
The Foreign Minister said Bangladesh has received a number of investment proposals from the UAE in a number of areas. "The process will be expedited."
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina left here for Abu Dhabi on Sunday on an official visit to attend a number of important programmes there including the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2020.
She is scheduled to return home on Tuesday night (11:59pm).
The Foreign Minister said thr Prime Minister will highlight Bangladesh's position in implementing the global goals - Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) during her UAE visit.
During the visit, the Prime Minister will get opportunities to inform the world leaders of the initiatives taken by Bangladesh in achieving the SDGs.
The Prime Minister will also give a detail overview to the participating world leaders about Bangladesh government’s initiatives in the field of energy, health care, climate change, water and biotechnology to achieve “Vision 2041” to turn Bangladesh into a developed country.
Two instruments are likely to be signed between Bangladesh and the UAE during the visit, said the Foreign Minister.
The agreements are - ‘Addendum to the MoU signed between Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC) and Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, Bangladesh’ and ‘Protocol of Amendment to the Agreement on allotment of land plot in Baridhara Diplomatic Enclave’, Dhaka for Construction of Embassy Premises.
The Foreign Minister said Bangladesh’s position is always in favour of peace and stability and follows its core foreign policy goal – friendship to all, malice to none.
“War is not an answer,” he said, adding that Bangladesh would like to see stability, peace and national integrity all over the world.
