A court here on Tuesday placed five people, including key suspect Surovi Akhter Nahida, on a five-day remand each over the murder of a woman and her domestic help in the city’s Dhanmondi area.
Metropolitan Magistrate Morshed Al Mamun Bhuiyan passed the order when Detective Branch of police Inspector Rabiul Alam, also the investigation officer of the case, produced them before the court seeking a 10-day remand.
The four others who were remanded are security guard Mohammad Nuruzzaman, cleaner Gausal Azam Prince, Atiqul Haque Bachchu, bodyguard of the son-in-law of victim Afroza Begum, and electrician Belayet Hossain.
The bodies of Afroza Begum, 65, and Bithi, 19, a domestic help, were recovered from a flat on the third floor of house No 21 on road 28 on November 1.
The case filed in this connection was transferred to the Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on Monday for investigation.
