Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapon on Wednesday said digital capability, rather than conventional measures, will be the primary strength of future security systems.
"Security is no longer confined to guarding borders or traditional defence systems," he said while speaking at the inauguration of “Prantik Konthoshor”, the media cell of the Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party (VDP), at Khilgaon in the capital.
With the rapid advancement of digital technology, the concepts of security, communication and information management have undergone fundamental changes, the minister said, adding in this evolving reality, digital leadership, cybersecurity and technology-based skills will form the foundation of future security systems.
Describing “Prantik Konthoshor” as more than just a media platform, Swapon said it is an important part of the government's broader plan for information management and digital transformation.
The initiative undertaken by the Bangladesh Ansar and VDP reflects timely and innovative thinking and could serve as a model for other public institutions, he said.
The minister also called for making better use of the force's large workforce by integrating them with modern technology, information management and digital communication instead of limiting their roles to conventional responsibilities.
"The world of technology is constantly evolving. What is considered modern today may become outdated tomorrow. Therefore, Prantik Konthoshor must continue to enhance its capacity through technological advancement and innovation," he said.
