At a press conference at Jatiya Press Club on Wednesday, Dhaka Zila CNG Auto-rickshaw Sramik Oikyo Parishad also placed a 10-point demand including taking legal action against charging extra daily deposit by transport owners, stop the plying of all types of vehicles under, what they claimed illegal app-based services, and withdrawal of ban on CNG run auto-rickshaws on the highways.
There is no legal bar to allow 5,000 CNG-run auto-rickshaws among licensed drivers as High Court already issued an order in this regard in response to a writ by Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA), claimed the platform’s general secretary Mohammad Hanif.
“Though government fixed for the drivers to pay Tk 900 on daily basis to the owners as deposit money, the owners are charging us Tk 1400 to Tk 1700 in two shifts violating the government rule”, he alleged.
