Airport Armed Police (AAP) Battalion and Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) conducted a joint operation at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) and arrested an alleged drug trader along with 2268 pieces of Yaba pills on Tuesday.
The arrestee was identified as Nur Mohammad (38), son of Md Ismail of Palongkhali village under Ukhia police station in Cox's Bazar district.
Additional Superintendent of Police (SP) of the AAP Mohammad Ziaul Haque said that based on secret information, the joint raid team comprising members of the AAP and the DNC took position in front of the domestic terminal of the airport since morning. At one stage, the law enforcers saw the suspect Nur Mohammad in front of the public toilet. During this time, he was seen moving around in an unprepared and suspicious state. Sensing the presence of the police, he tried to run away and was arrested by the raiding party.
During primary interrogation, Nur Mohammad denied carrying any kind of drugs, but when he was brought to the office of the Airport Armed Police Battalion for detailed interrogation, Noor Mohammad admitted that he had Yaba.
Later he himself took out the yaba that was with him. After counting, it was seen that there are 2268 pieces of yaba.

Additional SP Ziaul Haque said that members of the AAP had arrested Nur Mohammad along with Yaba consignment in 2018. A case was filed against him with the Airport Police Station. Currently, he has been on bail in that case. After getting out on bail, he got involved in yaba smuggling again, Ziaul Haque said, adding that there are at least two more drug-related cases against him.
