The pressure of vehicles has increased on Dhaka-Mymensingh and Dhaka-Tangail highways in Gazipur since morning as a four-day holiday began on Tuesday ahead of Eid-ul-Azha which is going to be celebrated on June 29.
Vehicles are moving slowly at different important points of the highways including Chandana Chowrasta, Bhogra Bypass Intersection, Boardbazar and Gazipura.
Besides, slow movement of traffic was seen on Dhaka-Tangail highway, the gateway to the northern districts from the capital. At Chandra Trimor, vehicles were running slowly on about one kilometer road.

However, there has been no long traffic jam on Gazipur highways so far.
The home-bound people said that there is no long traffic congestion on the roads this year. But transport workers are charging extra fare, they alleged.
Gazipur Metropolitan Police Commissioner Mahbub Alam said that efforts are being made to ensure a comfortable Eid journey by deploying additional law enforcers at various important points on the highway from Tongi to Chandana Intersection.

Gazipur Deputy Commissioner Md Anisur Rahman said in addition to the law enforcement agencies, 12 teams of the district administration led by executive magistrates are working to deal with traffic situation.
These teams are also taking action if anyone takes extra fare, he added.
