Deputy Minister for Water Resources Enamul Haque Shamim said on Wednesday that permanent embankment projects are being taken up in all risky areas in phases.
He said this while inspecting erosion-hit areas of Beltia Ghat in Gohalia Bari Union of Kalihati upazila in Tangail.
The Ministry of Water Resources has continued project works during the coronavirus crisis, he said.
“Under the direction of the Prime Minister, I've been monitoring all the flood affected areas and after receiving the flood forecast, I've instructed the executive engineers to be ready with geo bags on an urgent basis,” said the deputy minister.
A total of Tk 610 crore projects are underway in Tangail, he said.
Shamim also distributed TK 10,000 in cash and relief items among each affected family on behalf of the Prime Minister.
