The minister came up with the comment at a discussion marking the World Population Day organised by the Directorate General of Family Planning through a video conference.
“The vaccine for Covid-19 is yet to be made but other diseases are not inactive during the outbreak, so the service in other health sectors should be equally ensured across the country including in remote areas,” he said.
Currently, 52,000 workers of Directorate General of Family Planning are working at the grassroots in 18,000 community clinics and hospitals during the pandemic, he said, urging them to perform their duties with dedications.
He also dedicated all programmes of World Population Day to the Mujib Borsho.
This year’s theme of World Population Day is “Putting the brakes on Covid-19: how to safeguard the health and rights of women and girls now”.
The programme marking the day was observed virtually this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
