He made the call while exchanging greetings with the Hindu community during a visit to three temples on the occasion of Durga Puja.
“We have to use this spirit (of Durga Puja) to eradicate injustice from personal life and society. Everyone will have to come forward to build a happy and prosperous Bangladesh by destroying the evil spirit,” he said.
The President said the Durga Puja is a universal festival and a tradition of the country. “Bangladesh is an excellent example of communal harmony. Everyone has to come forward to build the country in non-communal spirit,” he said.
President Hamid first visited the Ramakrishna Mission. He was received by Dhaka-4 MP Kazi Firoz Rashid, Dhaka South City Corporation Mayor Sayeed Khokon, and Principal of Ramakrishna Mission Swami Purnatmananda Maharaj.
Shal and books were presented to the President by the Ramakrishna Mission.
Later, President Hamid went to Dhakeswari Temple. Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder, Local Government Minister Swapan Bhattacharya, local MP Haji Salim, President of Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Parishad Milon Kanti Dutta, and President of metropolitan worship committee Shailendranath Majumder welcomed him.
He later visited the Gulshan-Banani Puja Mandap. Local parliamentarian Akbar Hossain Pathan Faruk, Dhaka North City Corporation Mayor Atiqul Islam, President of Gulshan-Banani Sarbojonin Puja Foundation Subal Chandra Saha, and General Secretary Sudhanshu Kumar Das greeted the President.
The President also exchanged greetings with the people.
Secretaries concerned to the President were also present during the visit.
