The court of Chattogram Senior Special Metropolitan Sessions Judge Sheikh Ashfaqur Rahman sent Dr Md Sarfaraz Khan Chowdhury to prison after the hearing of the case was completed.
The ACC filed a case last November 15 against eight doctors including Dr Sarfaraz and three contractors for misappropriating Tk 9.15 crore during purchasing machineries for the 250-bed Chattogram General Hospital.
The court denied Dr Sarfaraz’s bail prayer after he surrendered before it as his six-week bail for the case had expired last week.
Besides Dr SarfaThe accused are Dr Md Abdur Rob, senior consultant (medicine) and chairman of the purchase committee, Dr Md Moin Uddin Mazumdar, junior consultant (surgery), Dr Bijoy Kumar Nath, senior consultant (surgery), Md Jaher Uddin Sarkar, proprietor of Bengal Scientific and Surgical Company, Munshi Faruk Hossain, proprietor of M/S Ahmad Enterprise and Aftab Ahmed, managing director and CEO of ASL.
Assistant Director of ACC Mohammad Sirajul Haque filed the case.
