Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is sending Eid gifts to families of BNP activists or leaders who became victims of enforced disappearance, extrajudicial killings and other forms of state repression, as well as the families of those killed during the July Uprising of 2024.
The BNP has been organising such programmes to recognise and provide support to such families for a number of years now under the umbrella of ‘Amra BNP Poribar’ (We the BNP Family). It became a regular feature under the severe repression and constant persecution faced by the party's activists under the previous government.
Like previous years, the initiative is being carried out under the patronage of Tarique Rahman, now the Prime Minister, who is also the chief patron of ‘Amra BNP Poribar’.
The Prime Minister’s Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Rumon said the distribution of Eid gifts began on Tuesday (March 18) across different districts for the affected families.
“Every year, Tarique Rahman provides Eid gifts to families affected by enforced disappearance, killings and repression. Since 2025, efforts have also been made to include families of those martyred in the July movement,” he said.
Rumon said although there has been a slight delay this year due to the government’s busy schedule in its first month, the Prime Minister has not forgotten these families.

Tarique Rahman has been providing Eid gifts to such families during Ramadan since 2016. This year, around 1,900 families are receiving financial assistance.
Member Secretary of ‘Amra BNP Poribar’ Moksedul Momin Mithun said there had been plans to distribute the financial support through bank accounts, but due to time constraints, funds are now being delivered through party networks and organisational teams across districts.
