Mintu said that there had been a financial dispute between two groups in their area, and in an attempt to resolve the matter, both parties met at the Airport Police Station on Tuesday night.
"One of the individuals involved was a follower of mine, and after the dispute was settled, he returned home. However, around 1:30 am, the house came under random gunfire. A bullet entered through the door and struck my father’s waist. He was immediately admitted to Rajshahi Medical College (RMC) Hospital," Mintu said.
He said, "10-12 people came in front of the house. They were all drug peddlers. They opened fire."
