A project titled "Feminism: Action and Mobilisation for Inclusive Economy (FAME)" has been inaugurated recently to empower women and support grassroots civil society organizations in Bangladesh.
With €10 million budget, the project is being implemented for over four years (2024–2027) across 10 countries, including Bangladesh.
In Bangladesh, the initiative will empower more than 2,000 women and support grassroots civil society organizations through three grant windows.
“The FAME project aims to promote economic inclusion, gender equality, sustainability, and support for women and LGBTQIA+ communities and persons with disabilities,” said French Ambassador to Bangladesh Marie Masdupuy.
She said the initiative reflects France’s feminist diplomacy and ongoing support to local actors working for systemic, inclusive change
The Ambassador attended the official launch of the transformative FAME project in Bangladesh this week, organized by the Dhaka Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DWCCI).
The FAME project is supported by the AFD - Agence Française de Développement and the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, under the Support Fund for Feminist Organizations (FSOF).
The project is being implemented by a consortium of seven organizations - Concerned Women for Family Development (CWFD), Sarbojanin Unnayan Sangstha, ABALAMBAN, Centre for Women and Children Studies (CWCS), Nabodigonto Nari Unnayan Sangstha, PURNIMA, and Shustha Jibon - led by Geres, with SAWDF coordinating activities in South Asia and DWCCI serving as a key partner in Bangladesh.
The FAME project embodies the priorities shared between France and Bangladesh to advance gender equality and inclusion, said the French Embassy in Dhaka on Tuesday.
