Ferry services on the Shariatpur-Chandpur waterway have been temporarily suspended due to dense fog.
To prevent accidents, the Narsingpur Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) terminal authorities halted ferry operations from 4 am on Tuesday, said the terminal’s Deputy Manager Md Iqbal Hossain.

From midnight Monday, intense fog had blanketed the river and surrounding areas, prompting the decision to suspend ferry movement from 4 am to ensure safety, said Iqbal.
No ferries, however, were stranded mid-river. Ferry operations will resume once visibility improves, he added.
