Ferry operations on the Aricha-Kazirhat and Paturia-Daulatdia routes resumed this morning after being suspended for three hours due to dense fog, officials said.
Nasir Chowdhury, deputy general manager of the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) Aricha sector, said ferry services on the Paturia-Daulatdia route were halted at 6:30am due to poor visibility.
Two ferries, Hasna Hena and Keramat Ali, were stranded mid-river, while six ferries at Paturia Ghat and two at Daulatdia Ghat remained stationary with passengers and vehicles onboard.

Similarly, services on the Aricha-Kazirhat route were suspended from 5:30 am, with the ferry Khan Jahan Ali anchored mid-river carrying vehicles. Three ferries at Aricha Ghat and one at Kazirhat Ghat were also halted during the disruption.
As the fog cleared, ferry operations resumed on the Paturia-Daulatdia route at 8:30 am and on the Aricha-Kazirhat route at 9 am.
Ferries stranded mid-river safely reached their destinations and vehicles waiting at the ghats began crossing the river.
