The country’s first-ever “Financial Accounting and Reporting (FAR) Conference 2026” will be held in the capital on Wednesday, aimed at ensuring maximum transparency, corporate governance, and accountability in the financial sectors.
The day-long event is being jointly organised by the Financial Reporting Council (FRC), the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB), and the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB).
The theme for the debut edition of the conference has been set as: "Credible Financial Reporting: Where the Real Value Lies."
Finance and Planning Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury will grace the occasion as the chief guest.
Prof Dr Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir, Adviser to the Prime Minister on Finance and Planning; Mahmud Hasan Khan, President of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA); and Md Abul Kalam, Vice President of the Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA), will attend the session as special guests.
According to an FRC press release, the opening ceremony will be followed by two exclusive technical sessions. Chief Financial Officers (CFOs), chartered accountants, cost and management accountants, auditors, and top-tier policymakers from prominent local and multinational corporate bodies will participate in the discussions.
The conference aims to deliver a unified message across the corporate landscape: adopting high-quality and internationally aligned financial reporting standards is indispensable for domestic firms to survive global market competition, attract Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), and comfortably access international capital.
