Ten houses of seven families have been gutted in a fire in Narail.
The incident happened at the Charshalikha village of Bashongram union of Sadar upazila on Monday afternoon. The victims said they suffered a loss of at least Tk 10 lakh.

"We brought the fire under control within two hours. We were able to save Tk 25 lakh worth of paddy and other belongings of seven families from the fire,” said Amal Krishna Basu, sub-officer of Lohagara Fire Station.
According to Narail Fire Service sources, the fire broke out at the house of Shihab Sheikh of Charshalikha village on Monday afternoon and spread to other nearby houses.

Confirming the incident, Rafiqul Islam Fakir, chairman of Bashongram Union, said, "I was in Narail and came here after getting information that the fire had come under control, but everything was burnt.”
“They are poor people. They have no land of their own. I appeal to the government to stand by these helpless people,” he said.
