At least eight arson attacks were recorded in 24 hours till 6 am on Monday, during the latest 48-hour blockade called by BNP and like-minded opposition parties.
A total of eight vehicles were set on fire by miscreants during this period and two of those were set ablaze in Dhaka’s Ramna and Rampura areas on Sunday, said Shahjahan Shikdar, deputy director of Fire Service and Civil Defence's Media Cell.

Four buses, two trucks, one covered van and a pick-up van were burnt during this period, he said.
The arson attacks were reported in Dhaka city, Gazipur, Chattogram, Sirajganj, Bogura and Natore districts.
A total of 80 members of 14 firefighting units were engaged in dousing the flames during this period, added the fire service official.

So far, 252 vehicles have been set on fire during the blockades and hartals since October 28, according to the Fire Service.
