Zonta International District-25 First Area Executive Meeting of Zonta International, a global organisation of executives and professionals working together to advance the status of women, was held on Saturday at Hotel Radisson Blu Bay View in Chattogram.

The title of the meeting was "Prism of Possibilities-Make It Happen".

Hundreds of prominent members from six Zonta Clubs of Dhaka and Chattogram attended the day-long meeting, which began with the national anthems of Bangladesh and Nepal.

Speakers at the meeting highlighted the organisation's vision of a world where women's rights are recognised as human rights and the elimination of violence against women and girls in society, and the advancement of women's rights.

"We envision a world where every woman is literate with access to legal aid, educaion and economic resources on an equal basis with men," they said, adding, "a world where no woman would live amid fear or violence."

They said the program is being conducted to influence the formulation and implementation of laws aimed at changing gender-based attitudes and behaviors to end violence against women.

Lt. Governor of Zonta District-25 Dr. Zareen Delawar Hussain, Zonta PP Mehbooba Ahsan, AD Mamtaz Chowdhury, PDG Nahid Moen, Area Director  Farahnaz Qaiyum, District Governor Ztn. Shreejana Rana, PDG Eric Elavia, Ztn Hasna Maudood, Dilruba Ahmed and Vice Area Director Seema Pant Golchha spoke on the occasion.

Lieutenant Governor of Zonta District 25 Dr. Zareen Delawar Hussain said, 'In our society, sexually abused girls are often afraid to seek treatment, social justice or police intervention; Because we don't have a proper medical system and social structure. Give adequate guidance on how to treat a girl who has been sexually assaulted with respect. Teaching these concepts to all our children is crucial, because only then can gender-based violence be eradicated from society. We are actively working on advocacy against such violence and child marriage along with our other projects.'

She said Zonta's six major units have been celebrating this campaign for several years through various activities including the implementation of necessary advocacy plans to stop violence against women and children.

'As part of this campaign, we have spread awareness among adolescent girls in various educational institutions of the country,' she added.
