Foreign Minister Dr Khalilur Rahman and State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed Islam have expressed deep shock and heartfelt condolences over the deaths of 16 Bangladeshis in a fire at a sofa factory in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on Sunday.
In a statement on Monday, they expressed their deepest sympathies to the bereaved families and assured them of support during this difficult time.
Officials from the Bangladesh Embassy in Riyadh reached the site soon after receiving news of the fire, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The embassy is working closely with the relevant Saudi authorities to identify the deceased and complete the necessary formalities for repatriating their bodies.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is closely monitoring the situation and providing necessary assistance, said the ministry.
Once the identification process is complete, necessary arrangements will be made to bring the body back to the country with the consent of their family.
