Former land minister Shamsur Rahman Sherif, a parliamentarian from Pabna-4 constituency, passed away at a hospital in Dhaka early Thursday.
He was 80.
He breathed his last around 5:30am at United Hospital, said Golam Faruk Prince, general secretary of the ruling party’s Pabna unit.
The five-time MP was the president of Pabna district unit Awami League.
He has been suffering from various ailments and was undergoing treatment at the ICU of the hospital for the last several days.
Sherif, also a freedom fighter, is survived by his wife, four sons and five daughters.
