At least four people were killed and another sustained injuries in separate road accidents in Noakhali and Kushtia on Friday.
In Noakhali, an unidentified elderly woman was killed alongside the minor girl who was helping her to cross the road, as they were hit by a speeding truck in Sonapur area on Friday afternoon.
The girl was identified as Jannatul Ferdaus, 8, daughter of Zaker Hossain of Char Karam Ulya village of Sadar Upazila, and a 60-year-old unidentified beggar.

Eyewitnesses said the elderly woman lived in the Sonapur area and used to be seen asking for alms at times. She was visually impaired, and Jannatul often helped her to cross the road in the evenings.
On this occasion as they were crossing the road, the speeding truck hit them in Sonapur old bus stand area, leaving them seriously injured.
Locals rushed them to the 250-bed Noakhali General Hospital, where doctors on duty declared them dead.

Mohammad Riaz Hasan, sub-inspector (SI) of Sudharam Police Station, said the body of the old woman was sent to the hospital morgue for an autopsy. And the body of the child has been handed over to her family after due procedure.
Legal action will be taken upon receiving a written complaint, added the officer.
In Kushtia, a woman and her son were killed and her husband was left injured, after being hit by a drum truck in Kushtia’s Kumarkhali upazila this evening.
The deceased were identified as Mst. Salma Khatun, 40, wife of Army person Rahmat Ali, and their son Sawron, 12, from Paikpara area of Chapra Union in Kumarkhali Upazila.
Kumarkhali Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Akibul Islam said that Rahmat Ali was returning home in Paikpara of Kumarkhali upazila from the town on a motorcycle with his wife and son.

When they reached the Bandhbazar area, the drum truck hit the motorcycle and the impact knocked them off the bike, leaving Salma Khatun and her son dead on the spot.
The seriously injured Rahmat Ali was admitted to Kushtia General Hospital, the OC added.
On information, police recovered the bodies and sent them to Kushtia General Hospital morgue.
Dr Tapas Kumar Sarkar, resident medical officer (RMO) of Kushtia General Hospital, said the condition of Rahmat Ali, who was injured in the road accident, is critical.
