Bangladesh Bank has decided to keep four state-owned banks open on Friday (March 28) despite the start of a nine-day Eid-ul-Fitr holiday.
In a circular signed by Additional Director Md Abdul Mannan, the central bank informed the managing directors and chief executives of Sonali Bank, Janata Bank, Agrani Bank and Rupali Bank about this decision.
Issued on Thursday (March 27), the circular stated that these banks would remain open to facilitate the withdrawal of salaries and allowances for MPO-listed teachers and employees under the Secondary and Higher Education Division ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr.

The banks will operate from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, with transactions permitted between 10:00 am and 12:00 pm.
A break for Jumu'atul Wida prayers will be observed from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm, according to the central bank’s directive.

This decision has been made in the public interest under the authority granted by Section 45 of the Bank Companies Act, 1991.
The central bank has assured that officials and employees on duty during this period will receive allowances as per regulations.
