Police recovered the body of a freedom fighter hanging from a tree inside a bamboo grove near his residence in Dhobaura upazila of Mymensingh on Thursday morning.
The deceased was identified as Sheikh Hossain Ali, alias Hossain, a resident of the Darsha Mantani area in the upazila.
According to police and locals, residents spotted the body hanging from a tree inside the bamboo grove in the morning and alerted the authorities. Police later recovered the body and sent it to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Officer-in-Charge Shafiqul Islam of Dhobaura Police Station, said primary findings indicate the deceased had family disputes with his sons, though his family was financially well-off.
The OC added that it remains uncertain whether the incident is a murder or suicide, emphasizing that the exact cause of death will be determined following the autopsy report. Legal procedures regarding the matter are underway.
