Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque on Tuesday said all gallant freedom fighters are being given free medical services in all government hospitals of the country.
“The government has allocated money in advance to these hospitals for this (providing free treatment to freedom fighters),” he said.
The minister was addressing a discussion organised on the occasion of the ministry's 'Service Week 2023' at his ministry’s conference room here in the city. The service week of the Liberation War Affairs Ministry is being observed from January 1 to 7.
The minister said all the information related to the services of the ministry is there on the website. Any entitled person can apply online to avail the service from any part of the world, he said.
He said the allowances of the freedom fighters are being given directly to their accounts through mobile from Bangladesh Bank. The government also bears all ancillary surcharges in this regard.
Mozammel Haque said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is constructing 30,000 houses for the insolvent freedom fighters on the occasion of the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the golden jubilee of the great Independence.

He said different projects are being implemented to conserve all the memorials related to the Great Liberation War, to ensure the welfare of the gallant freedom fighters, and to spread the spirit of the Great Liberation War to the new generation including construction of Swadhinata Stambha (Liberation Monument) in historic Suhrawardy Udyan, construction of Upazila Muktijoddha Complex and the conservation of the historical sites of the Liberation War.
Earlier, a colorful procession was brought out in front of the ministry on the occasion of the Service Week with participation of its officers and employees as well as the brave freedom fighters.

Liberation War Affairs Secretary Khaja Miah, Director General of Jatiyo Muktijoddha Council (Jamuka) Zahurul Islam Rhohel and Managing Director of Freedom Fighters Welfare Trust SM Mahbubur Rahman, among others, were present, said a PID handout.
