Savar, Apr 3 (UNB) – Several readymade garment factories suspended operations for the day after workers demonstrated to press for various demands in Ashulia’s new Export Processing Zone on Wednesday morning.
Worker agitation was first reported at a factory. From there, they got out and hurled brick chips at some other factory buildings. Workers from those factories also got out and joined the protesters.
This forced several factory owners to call off operations for the day, said workers.
“The situation is now under control,” said Shana Shaminur Rahman, director of Industrial Police-1. “We’ve deployed additional personnel.”
