Rujina’s father, Ali Ahmed Bhuiyan, has filed a case at the Sadar Model Police Station in Chandpur against her uncle and aunt for the brutal abuse and Rujina is currently undergoing treatment at the Chandpur Government General Hospital.
On Friday (March 7) afternoon, a case was filed under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act at the Sadar Model Police Station, with Rujina's aunt, Rokeya Begum, as the primary accused and her uncle, Rubel Mollah, as the secondary accused.
This information was confirmed to UNB in the evening by the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sadar Model Police Station, Mohammad Bahar Mia. He mentioned that after the case was filed, the accused were already handed over to the court, and the court sent them to the district jail in the afternoon.
Mohammad Abdur Rakib, the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Chandpur, visited the Sadar Model Police Station in light of this incident on Friday afternoon. He gathered information about the case and spoke with Rujina's family, who are currently at the hospital.
The SP of Chandpur said, "On Thursday afternoon, the police learned through a 999 call and rescued the girl from Madrasa Road. We initially found out that the girl had been working at her uncle’s house for the past year, taking care of her cousin brother and sister. She was subjected to inhuman torture. She was not allowed to communicate with her parents. The police have arrested the uncle and aunt."
He also added, "A case has been filed in this incident. They have been sent to court. Since this is a very tragic incident, strict legal action is being taken against them."
