The overall number of global Covid cases has now crossed 629 million.
According to the latest global data, the total case count mounted to 629,395,967 while the death toll from the virus reached 6,569,844 on Saturday morning.
The US has recorded 98,814,003 cases so far while 1,090,289 people have died from the virus in the country, both highest counts around the world.
India's daily Covid-19 caseload Friday decreased to 2,678, officials said.
According to federal health ministry data released on Friday morning, 2,678 new cases of Covid-19 were reported in 24 hours, taking the total tally to 44,623,997 in the country.
With the reporting of fresh cases, India's active caseload currently stands at 26,583.
The country also logged 10 Covid-related deaths in 24 hours, pushing the overall toll to 528,857 since the beginning of the pandemic, the ministry said.
Covid in Bangladesh
Bangladesh reported four more deaths from Covid-19 and 346 fresh cases in 24 hours till Friday morning.
The country's total fatalities rose to 29,393 with the new deaths. The new cases raised the country's total caseload to 2,031,797, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The daily case test positivity rate dropped to 7.15 per cent from Thursday’s 8.92 per cent as 4, 840 samples were tested.
The mortality rate remained unchanged at 1.45 per cent and the recovery rate rose to 97.11 per cent.
