The overall number of global Covid-19 cases has now crossed 631 million.
According to the latest global data, the total case count mounted to 631,540,169 while the death toll from the virus reached 6,577,030 on Thursday morning.
The US has recorded 98,987,014 cases so far, while 1,092,031 people have died from the virus in the country, both highest counts around the world.
India's daily Covid-19 caseload Wednesday increased to 1,946, officials said.
According to federal health ministry data released on Wednesday morning, 1,946 new cases of Covid were reported in 24 hours, taking the total tally to 44,634,376 in the country.
With the reporting of fresh cases, India's active caseload currently stands at 25,968.
The country also logged 10 related deaths in 24 hours, pushing the overall death toll to 528,923 since the beginning of the pandemic, the ministry said.
Covid in Bangladesh
Bangladesh reported two Covid-linked deaths and 300 fresh cases in 24 hours till Wednesday morning.
The country's total fatalities rose to 29,410 with the new deaths and the new cases raised the country's total caseload to 2,033,419, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The daily case test positivity rate rose to 7.18 per cent from Tuesday’s 6.97 per cent as 4,176 samples were tested during the period.
The mortality rate remained unchanged at 1.45 per cent and the recovery rate rose to 97.17 per cent.
