Tight security measures have been taken to ensure safety of the devotees.
In Dinajpur, the 6th Eid congregation will be held at Gor-e-Shahid Baro Maidan at 8:30am. It will be conducted by Maulana Shamsul Haque Kashemi.
According to the district administration, the Eidgah has an area of about 22 acres.
Dinajpur police chief Sayed Abu Sayem said members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab), police, ansar and plainclothesmen will work to ensure security. The area is under CCTV surveillance.
Devotees will only be allowed to bring prayer mats, the SP said.
In Shokalia, preparations have already been completed for smoothly holding the 192nd Eid-ul-Azha congregation, said Deputy Commissioner Sarwar Murshed Chowdhury, also president of Sholakia Eidgah Maidan management committee.
Mashrukur Rahman Khaled, superintendent of Kishoreganj police, said two platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) troopers will be deployed in and around the Eidgah ground alongside police and Rab members.
On the Eid day on July 7, 2016, four people, including two policemen, were killed and 12 others injured in a militant attack on a temporary police check-post near Sholakia Eidgah.
This year, the Eid congregation will commence at 8:30am. Maulana Mohammad Hifzur Rahman, Khatib of Boro Bazar Markaz Mosque, will conduct the congregation.
Two special trains of Sholakia Express will operate on Bhairab-Kishoreganj and Mymensingh-Kishoreganj routes on the Eid day to facilitate the travel of Sholakia-bound devotees.
The Eidgah is situated on the northern bank of Norsunda River. Mannan Dad Khan, former Dewan of Haibatnagar in Kishoreganj, donated 4.35 acres of land through Waqf deeds in 1950 and now the Eidgah has an area of seven acres.
