The government has appointed four new members to the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC).
The newly appointed members are Md Gias Uddin Zoarder, Md Abdur Razzak, Md Mizanur Rahman and Dr Syeda Razia Sultana.
However, a detailed background of the new members is yet to be known.
The Energy and Mineral Resources Division of the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources made their appointments through separate notifications issued on Tuesday.
As per the notifications, the appointment will be effective for three years from their joining the posts.
Earlier, the chairman and all the four members of the BERC had to resign in the face of the agitation from the staff of the BERC after the fall of the previous Awami League regime.
Nurul Amin resigned on August 20 and other members submitted their resignation on August 29 against the backdrop of the continuous agitation.
Following the resignation, the interim government appointed Jalal Ahmed, a former chairman of Petrobangla, as the new chairman of the BERC on August 22 and issued a circular to different newspapers seeking candidates for the member posts.
After scrutiny, the four were selected for the post and appointed by the Energy and Mineral Resources Division.
