Though it is difficult to control pollution in an overpopulated country like Bangladesh, the government is committed to doing everything it possibly can to free the country from pollution, according to Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Md Shahab Uddin.
Speaking at a program organised by the ministry on Monday to congratulate him on winning the 'ATN Bangla Development Bangladesh Award 2022', Shahab Uddin posed the question: "If other countries of the world can do it, why can't we?"
Alongside government initiatives, all sections of the public need to be involved in the process to make the country pollution-free, he added.
The minister stated that any form of recognition such as the ATN Bangla award brings with it more responsibilities. Instructing the employees of the ministry to work more sincerely, he said that they should all work to protect the environment with a sense of moral responsibility.
"To build a Smart Bangladesh, we have to work smartly to protect the environment," he remarked.
