Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Sunday said the government is giving the highest priority to nurturing the innovative and creative talents of the young generation, pledging necessary support to help them achieve excellence.

He made the remarks when a delegation of Bangladeshi students who won gold medals at international Olympiads called on him at the Prime Minister's Office in the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban at 5:30pm, according to a press release issued by the Prime Minister's Press Wing.

The Prime Minister congratulated the delegation members, including the gold medal-winning students, and expressed pride in their achievements on the international stage.

He listened to their academic pursuits, research activities and future plans, and encouraged them to pursue new ideas and innovative initiatives.

The students briefed the Prime Minister on the upcoming AI International Olympiad scheduled to be held in Kazakhstan from August 2 to 8.

Tarique Rahman wished them success and assured them of necessary government support for their participation.

He presented laptops to three gold medalists — Labib Shahriar of Homna Adarsha School, Saiduzzaman Araf of Moulvibazar Government College and Tridib Roy Arzya of Notre Dame College.

The Prime Minister also presented books to other team members.

He said the government is working to identify talented youths across the country and provide them with international-standard training, research opportunities and other necessary assistance.

"A technology-based and knowledge-driven Bangladesh will be built with the participation of the country's talented youth," Tarique Rahman said, urging everyone to work with dedication and sincerity to enhance Bangladesh's image globally.

Responding to the delegation's interest in organising the AI Olympiad in Bangladesh, he assured them of full government support.

The delegation included Bangladesh AI Olympiad team leader and Dhaka University teacher Prof Dr BM Mainul Hossain Raju, coach Dr Mohammad Azam Khan, Bangladesh Open Source Network President Munir Hasan, and AI Olympiad coordinator and mentor Tasnim Mahfuz Nafis.

Prime Minister's Adviser on Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology and Science and Technology Rehan Asif Asad, Prime Minister's Press Secretary Saleh Shibly, and Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Rumon were also present.
