Law Minister Anisul Huq on Wednesday said the government has expressed satisfaction over the verdict of Holey Artisan café attack.
“We’re happy with this verdict,” he told reporters at the Secretariat.
Seven men were sentenced to death for their roles in the July 1, 2016 attack on an upscale café in the heart of the diplomatic quarter which left 22 people, mostly foreigners, dead.
One of the accused was acquitted. Minister Huq said that before commenting on the matter, he has to first see the judgment.
When asked how one of the convicts was wearing a cap with terrorist organisation IS’ logo, he said the matter will be investigated.
The death reference will reach the High Court Division within seven days. “We hope the paperbooks will be prepared soon. The verdict will be executed on time,” he said.
