The government has formally initiated the administrative process to implement the National Pay Scale 2026 across state-owned commercial banks and autonomous financial institutions.
The Financial Institutions Division (FID) under the Ministry of Finance issued an official letter on Wednesday directing the heads of relevant organisations to take necessary administrative measures in accordance with the new pay scale gazette.
Signed by FID Deputy Secretary Sharmin Sultana, the letter forwarded copies of the official gazette – issued earlier by the Finance Division on September 17 under SRO No. 348-Law/2026 – to the managing directors and chief executive officers of the designated state-run banks and organisations.
The directive covers six state-owned banks: Sonali Bank, Janata Bank, Agrani Bank, Rupali Bank, BASIC Bank, and Bangladesh Development Bank PLC (BDBL).
Additionally, the gazette and implementation instructions were sent to the Managing Director of the Security Printing Corporation (Bangladesh) Limited and the Director of the Bangladesh Insurance Academy.
With the transmission of the gazette, the designated financial institutions will now proceed with administrative routines to re-fix salary structures, allowances, and related financial benefits for their officers and employees in line with National Pay Scale 2026.
