The State Minister said this while delivering his keynote speech at the "discussion and cultural program" on the occasion of the 99th birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the Great Independence Day of 2019 organized by the Bangabandhu Cultural Forum in the National Exhibition of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in the capital.
"Effective measures should be taken to eliminate militancy from the Ministry of Culture. In order to eliminate militancy through cultural practices and development at grassroots level, efforts have been taken to appoint cultural teachers in every upazila and to every educational institution," Khalid said.
Bengali nationalism will have to spread by rearing up the native culture and only then will it be possible to eliminate militancy from the country and society, he added.
Trade Minister Tipu Munshi was present as the chief guest at the ceremony.
State Minister for Culture said that on the occasion of the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the period from March 17, 2020 to March 26, 2021 will be celebrated as Mujib year.
Being a part of the Ministry of Culture, the ministry will undertake a massive program. In this, all the offices under the ministry will have active participation.
Bangabandhu Cultural Forum's central council vice president Manoranjan Ghosal presided over the programme while the Vice-Chancellor of Sher-e-Bangla Agriculture University Dr Kamal Uddin Ahmed, advisor to the Bangabandhu Cultural Forum Abdullahil Bari, vice-president Abdul Kuddus and advisory committee member ZM Kamrul Anam spoke.
