The government will include the introduction of post-stroke therapy services at the upazila level in its phased healthcare expansion plan, subject to the availability of the required manpower, infrastructure and equipment, Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Husain told Parliament on Monday.
He was replying to a scripted question from opposition Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami lawmaker Shahjahan Chowdhury (Chattogram-15) during the question-and-answer session in the House.
The minister said the government will also strengthen the supply and stock management of essential medicines and medical supplies at district and upazila levels to treat dengue, snakebite and other seasonal diseases.
He said the country registered 880 suspected and 99 confirmed measles deaths between March 15 and September 1 this year.

According to the Directorate General of Health Services, suspected measles deaths stood at 897 and confirmed measles deaths at 100 as of Monday.
