The government has planned to formulate a policy aimed at removing age restrictions for volunteers, enabling people from both within and outside the country to contribute to volunteerism regardless of their age.
Relief and Disaster Management Secretary Kamrul Hasan announced this during an event held at the Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Building of Dhaka University on Thursday to mark World Volunteer Day.
The event, organised by Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO) Bangladesh, carried the theme "Everything for Everyone."
Kamrul Hasan praised the dedication of volunteers, stating, "Our volunteers stand by people during all disasters. Without their heartfelt contributions, our successes would not have been possible."

He emphasised that disaster management requires collective efforts, adding, "It is not possible for the government to handle disasters alone. During the recent floods, volunteers, including leaders of the anti-discrimination student movement, risked their lives to help."
At the event, 21 volunteers were honoured for their outstanding contributions, underscoring the importance of recognising and supporting volunteerism to foster community development.
