Planning Minister MA Mannan on Friday said the government is installing deep tube-well to resolve drinking water crisis of the poor villagers in the district.
The Minister said this while speaking as chief guest at the deep tube-well and latrine distribution ceremony organised by Jagannathpur upazila administration and Public Health Engineering Department at Swarup Chandra Government High School ground here in the afternoon.
Mannan, also the MP of Jagannathpur-South Sunamganj constituency of Sunamganj, said the Awami League government is working for the people.
“The country is becoming self-reliant in economy, education, communication, power and medicare sectors under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina,” he said, adding that the government is also planning to introduce various allowances for the widow, elderly people and people with disability.
Later, the minister distributed tube-well slips among the 700 ultra-poor families and latrine slip among 300 families of Raniganj, Kolkolia, Syedpur, Shaharpara and Asharkandi unions.
Earlier in the morning, he opened the Boro crop protection embankment of haor programme of Jagannathpur upazila.
