Three murder cases were filed against former prime minister Sheikh Hasina and 155 others in connection with killings during the recent anti-discrimination student protests in Dhaka on Tuesday.
These cases were filed for the killings Miraj Hossain in Demra's Sanarpar, Mansur Mia, a machine operator at Buriganga Filling Station in Mohammadpur's Bosila, and Nahidul in Mirpur .
Khorshed Alam Mia filed a case against 92 people in the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Belal Hossain for the murder of Miraj Hossain. The court recorded the plaintiff's statement and directed the Demra police to accept the complaint as an FIR.
Notable among the accused in this case, apart from Hasina, are former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, former IGP Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun, former DMP commissioner Habibur Rahman, former DB Additional Commissioner Harun Or Rashid, and former DMP joint commissioner Biplob Kumar Sarker.
On the same day, a murder case was filed in the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Rajesh Chowdhury against 22 people.
Aynal Haque, the brother of Mansur Mia, filed the case regarding the death of Mansur Mia in Bosila, Mohammadpur. The court recorded the plaintiff's statement and directed the Mohammadpur police to accept the complaint as an FIR.
Additionally, another case has been filed in the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mehedi Hasan against 41 people, including Sheikh Hasina.
It was filed regarding the death of Nahidul Islam in Mirpur, his brother Sabuj is the plaintiff. The court recorded the plaintiff's statement and directed the Mirpur police to accept the complaint as an FIR.
The complainant in the Mansur murder case states that during the quota reform movement, on July 19, Mansur Mia was on his way to pick up his child from a madrasa in the Bosila Bridge area of Mohammadpur. He was shot on the way. He was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.
According to the complaint in the Miraj murder case, on August 5, Miraj participated in the anti-discrimination student movement. Upon reaching Demra's Sanarpar Main Road, hundreds of members of law enforcement, RAB, Awami League, professionals, other leaders and activists, Jubo League, Chhatra League, and Krishak League attacked with local weapons and opened fire. Miraj and several others were shot. Miraj was later taken to Mitford Hospital, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.
The complainant in the Nahidul murder case states that during the anti-discrimination student movement on July 19, Nahidul was shot and killed in Mirpur.
