Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall in Rangpur, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions in the next 24 hours commencing 9 am on Wednesday.

 “Light to moderately heavy rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind and lightning flashes is likely to occur at most places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions with heavy to very heavy falls over Rangpur, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions,” Met office said.

The country’s highest 314 mm rainfall was recorded in Bandarban in 24 hours till 6am Wednesday.

Day temperature may fall slightly and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.

The monsoon land Depression over Chhattisgarh and adjoining Uttar and Madhya Pradesh moved northwestwards, weakened into a well-marked low and now lies over Madhya Pradesh and adjoining Uttar Pradesh.

It is likely to move west-northwestwards further and weaken gradually. Under its influence steep pressure gradient persists over North Bay and adjoining area.

The axis of monsoon trough runs through Rajasthan, the centre of the well-marked low, Bihar, West Bengal to Assam across southern part of Bangladesh. Monsoon is active over Bangladesh and strong over North Bay.
