Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) on Wednesday arrested a teacher of Holy Family Red Crescent Medical College on allegations of sexually harassing a female student.
The arrestee is Dr Salauddin Chowdhury, 37, an assistant professor of the college.
ANM Imran Khan, Assistant Director (ASP) of Legal and Media Wing of Rab, confirmed the matter to UNB.
A team of the intelligence branch of Rab headquarters and Rab-3 made the arrest after conducting a drive through the city's Moghbazar area, said a media release issued by Rab HQ.
On Tuesday, a case was filed under the Women and Child Repression Prevention Act.

According to the complaint, on November 6, Dr Salauddin tried to sexually harass the victim.
Earlier, Dr Salauddin contacted the victim during online classes at different times and asked her to meet the accused at his place, said the release.
During interrogation, the accused confessed that he had sent indecent texts to the victim at various times, which had a digital footprint.
Legal processes are underway in this regard, the release added.
