Police recovered the body of a housewife from beneath a pile of sand at an under-construction building in Sadar upazila of Feni on Tuesday evening.
The deceased was identified as Shirin Akhter, 38, wife of expatriate Mohammad Manik of Jer Kachar village under Shorshadi union.
Police and locals said Shirin had been living with her children in a rented house beside a plot purchased by her husband, where construction of their new house was underway.

When she could not be found since Tuesday afternoon, her children and other family members started searching for her.
At one stage, acting on suspicion, family members began removing sand from a room of the under-construction building and found Shirin’s body buried underneath.
Later, police recovered the body and sent it to Feni General Hospital for an autopsy.
One construction worker reportedly went into hiding after the incident, according to local residents.
Officer-in-Charge of Feni Model Police Station Gazi Muhammad Fauzul Azim said prima facie, it appears to be a planned murder.
