The indomitable courage, the professionalism that everyone of the CPH has shown has created a unique example which is really rare, he said.

The professionalism of the Central Police Hospital during the Corona epidemic has been recognized by the entire country and has been acclaimed at abroad too. 

The IGP made the remarks while addressing a function as the chief guest at an award giving ceremony among Covid-19 fighters of Central Police Hospital at Bangladesh Police Auditorium at Rajarbagh on Sunday afternoon.

 “We had no prior preparation for Corona. But, we had full courage and strong confidence not to give up. We did not get afraid to deal with Corona,” he added.

 "We didn't have any safety equipment to deal with Corona. Without waiting for safety equipment, every member of  the police force was on duty  to protect people risking their lives. Many policemen have been infected with Covid-19 while on duty. Subsequently, adequate protective materials like masks, sanitizers, PPEs were collected for each member of Bangladesh Police.”

The Central Police Hospital was upgraded from a 250-bed hospital to a 500-bed Covid Hospital and a PCR lab was set up in just three weeks, he said adding that Plasma Bank has been opened  and patients are being given plasma therapy.

The IGP said not only police personnel but also people from different walks of life have been given treatment at Central Police Hospital.

 “We want to transform the Central Police Hospital into a world-class specialized hospital. In the future, a cath lab will be set up at the hospital and cancer treatment will also be provided,” he added.

Chiefs of various police units based in Dhaka, senior officers of Police headquarters and others were present on the occasion.
