Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) detained an Indian national from the Andharmanik border area in Bhujpur under Fatikchhari upazila of Chattogram on Monday for allegedly entering Bangladesh illegally.
The detainee was identified as Puton Molla, 19, son of Badal Molla, a resident of Ramendranagar village under Sabroom Police Station in South Tripura, India.
According to BGB, a patrol team from Andharmanik BOP under Ramgarh Battalion (43 BGB) detained the Indian national from the North Andharmanik border area around 1:30 pm with assistance from local residents.
BGB said the youth had entered Bangladesh illegally through the border.
Legal action is being initiated against the detainee under relevant laws, and preparations are underway to hand him over to Bhujpur Police Station for further proceedings.
BGB said it remains vigilant in safeguarding the country's borders, protecting national sovereignty, preventing illegal infiltration and combating cross-border crimes.
The border force also emphasized the importance of public awareness and cooperation from people living in border areas in preventing illegal activities.
